CHICAGO (November 18, 2019) – FierceHealthcare, a healthcare trade publication, recognized Swati Abbott, the longtime CEO of Blue Health Intelligence® (BHI®), with its “2019 Women of Influence” award today. Ten women across the industry — from physicians to CEOs to researchers and tech company execs — were honored for shaping the future of healthcare.
According to FierceHealthcare, the award honors leaders “who have made a measurable impact on healthcare in the past year and have a demonstrated track record in paving the way forward for women and men alike.” It is designed to spotlight women in leadership roles, recognizing that while women have better representation in the healthcare sector compared to corporate America overall, the number of women who rise up the ranks in healthcare remains low.
Since joining BHI in 2011, Abbott has overseen nearly a decade of annual double-digit revenue growth in its three U.S. offices. Much of her success is due to her knack for recognizing and recruiting high-potential employees, providing challenging opportunities, and nurturing their professional development.
“What an honor to be included among such an esteemed group of women,” Abbott said. “I am proud of the work we are doing to transform data into actionable solutions that reduce healthcare costs and improve care delivery.”
Under her leadership, BHI recently:
- Forged a data-sharing partnership with the Health Care Cost Institute (HCCI) to bolster its ability to provide research insights to aid employers, government officials, and the public in finding solutions to address health care costs.
- Was certified as a Qualified Entity by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. With this distinction, BHI gains access to data from more than 59 million Medicare beneficiaries, which will provide a better understanding of provider cost and quality across the U.S.
- Deployed a predictive algorithm that enables health plans and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association to more accurately identify members who have or may develop health conditions that cost more than $250,000 a year so that they can identify, better manage and direct appropriate interventions.
